Merrill Creek Reservoir I/O tower

It's great to have this little, serene slice of nature so close to home. Great for photography, bird watching, fishing ect

Awesome area for family recreation. Free visitors center with activities for children. Renown bird watching, with resident bald eagles.

Great location for hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating or just enjoying nature. If bringing a boat, only electric motors are allowed, and kayaks must be over nine feet. I went with a group once and they actually measured the one kayak because it looked short. Turns out it was and they couldn't go in.

The place is beautiful with fishing, boating, trails, wildlife, birds and sites to enjoy. This area was once known as Ingersoll Dam on Montana Mountain. It was just as beautiful then as now. Handicap fishing area that was enjoyed by me and many other handicaps is no longer. Possible better engineering or some good ideas showed at the state docks and ramps would help. Proper anchoring, water levels and design will maintain the dock by the tower for the handicap to hopefully enjoy once again. THANKS. Merrill Creek Reservoir is good for all ages and reminiscing is good for the soul.

Did the Perimeter Trail from the Visitor's Center. Just under 6 miles over varying terrain. About equal parts single-track and the wider, flatter double-track. It being the first warm Saturday, there were quite a few folks also doing that trail and many others! Great views of the reservoir from all different angles. Lots of birds flitting through the woodlands to and plenty of birders in the parking area. Overall a really nice trail.
