  Excellent views and mature pines make this a great escape from LA. The trail is not clearly marked in some areas so download a trail map before you go.

  It is 7 mile loop not 9 miles as LA Times had posted recently on their weekly trial recommendations. Yes total elevation gain is 1600 ft, but it is at reasonable gradient, so it is not too steep. I did in early November, and I think it is good time weather wise. Wether it is summer or early winter, I think best time to start is early morning. You are at elevations of 6000-8500 ft, so air is fresh, clean and light. Due to high elavation,M body seems to not get so much hungry, but requires 2 times the water input as at normal elavation for same kind of distance and elavation gain.

  I love this hike it has a lot of shady areas as well as open areas you can do a loop where you can do other trails it's always nice and peaceful

  Not to hard of a hike. It had lots if scenic views. We did not make it to the summit. The waterfalls were mearly trickles in mid August.

  It was an awesome hike I would really recommend it it's about 5.6 Miles all the way around the loop very stunning there was a lot of snow plants on the way they have a lot of cedars big Cedar trees very nice sugar pines and Ponderosa pine The trail was in such of a heart incline it was very nice going up you could see the All of the mountain Valley with clouds covers you could see that private ski area called buckhorn their ski lift Tug and pull System lot of chipmunks and squirrels everywhere Very Stunning views very beautiful
